Job postings won't tell you what actually matters in the new field. A thirty minute conversation with someone who's already crossed will save you months of guessing.

Expect a demotion in scope before a promotion in trajectory
A lateral or even smaller-scope role in the new field is often the fastest real path in, not a step backward.
