I'm Mike. When I became a manager for the first time, I was excited and also pretty nervous about it. The first few months were rough, more questions than I had answers for, more nights replaying a conversation I'd botched than I want to admit.
The support I got from my team and mentors made all the difference. I learned that asking for help was one of the most important skills I could develop. My team was patient with my mistakes, and my mentors were honest about their own (even though it hurt sometimes).
I've spent my career in healthtech, leading global teams and helping companies grow from a handful of clients to serving some of the biggest names in business. I've made just about every first-time manager mistake there is, more than once.
What strikes me most is how much this job is shaped by the people around you. I've learned as much from team members as from senior leadership, often in a quiet conversation after a hard meeting.
That's what inspired me to build this space. I don't have all the answers, but I remember how much it helped when someone else shared theirs. If anything here makes your path a little easier, it's worth it.
