When I became a manager for the first time, I was excited but also nervous. Leading a small team felt overwhelming as I tried to understand what effective leadership really meant. I quickly realized that leadership is a journey full of questions, doubt, and learning.
The support I received from my team and mentors during those early days made all the difference. I learned that asking for help wasn't a sign of weakness but actually one of the most important skills a new manager could develop. My team was patient with my mistakes, and my mentors shared their own stories of early leadership struggles.
Since then, I've been fortunate to lead teams across different countries and cultures. Each experience taught me something new about communication, trust, and what it means to create an environment where people can do their best work. I've watched organizations grow from serving just a few customers to earning the trust of Fortune 500 clients, and been part of the excitement of an IPO along the way.
What strikes me most is how much this journey is shaped by the people you work with. I've learned as much from junior developers as from senior executives. Some of my best insights about management have come from quiet conversations after difficult meetings, or from team members brave enough to give me honest feedback.
That's what inspired me to create this space. Not because I have all the answers, but because I remember how helpful it was when someone else shared their experiences with me. If anything I write here makes your path even a little bit easier, or helps you feel less alone in figuring this out, then it's worth it.
Management is deeply human work, and we're all still learning. I'm sharing what I've learned so far, with the understanding that tomorrow will probably teach me something new.
