You just got a new manager.

Four moves for the first few weeks under someone new, not a general essay on adapting to change.

01
Ask them how they like to work, early
Communication style, meeting cadence, how they want to hear bad news. Get this explicit in the first few weeks instead of guessing.
02
Bring them up to speed on your team, don't wait to be asked
They don't have your context yet. A short written brief on your team, current priorities, and known risks saves months of them re-deriving it themselves.
03
Renegotiate nothing in the first month
Any informal agreements you had with your old manager aren't automatically inherited. Give the new relationship time before you push on them.
04
Watch what they reward, not just what they say
Their actual priorities show up in what gets their attention and praise, not in the kickoff speech. Calibrate to that.
