Use this as a starting point, not something to read verbatim. Say it in your own words, but keep the order and the directness.
"I want to talk through something I've noticed the last couple weeks. Nothing alarming, but I want to catch it early."
Say this early in the 1:1, not saved for the end.
"On [specific example], I noticed [specific behavior or gap]. Can you walk me through what was going on there?"
One concrete example beats a general impression every time.
"That's helpful context. Here's what I need to see change, and by when."
Let them answer fully before you move to next steps. Don't cut in.
"Let's check in on this at our next 1:1. What would help you between now and then?"
End with a specific follow up point, not a vague "let's see how it goes."
